Sorcerer Radio at the Fantasy Faire Grand Opening

My name is Bubba, and its been two and a half weeks since my last visit to the Disneyland Resort
Awwwwwwww
But how can I pass up a day like this.

Opening Day at Disneyland for Fantasyland's newest addition, Fantasy Faire. I was there representing Sorcerer Radio and Cooking With Mickey.

Where once was the home of the iconic Carnation Plaza Garden Stage now is the new home for this storybook village square right next to Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

This enchanted village brings to life the stories of Disney's fairy tale princess's and hero's from the timeless tales of The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Tangled and Beauty and the Beast.
To quote Disney. Once upon a time begins the moment you arrive, and happily ever after happens every day.

As you enter Fantasy Faire from the main hub, you have your choice of two new attractions.

The main attraction inside Fantasy Faire is the Royal Hall. Before you enter the hall, a sign outside the main entrance shows you which three Disney Princess's are inside for you and your family to meet.

When I went line their was only two names on the board, but I asked a cast member if there was a third princess, and he said while in character, "But of course my dear sir. Princess Ariel has joined the others in the Royal Hall."
Inside the Royal Hall, you can see wood finished walls, banners hung from the ceiling. And what castle wouldn't be complete without a with huge a chandelier.

While in line a lots of guests were asking cast members if any other Princess's like Rapunzel or Belle will be inside throughout the day and if so when. But cast members kept saying come back later to see who's on the board. Kind of confusing and this could possibly make you and most importantly, your kids mad. In my opinion, they need to implement a full day schedule for guests so see they know when to come back to see the princess's they want to see.

As you exit the Royal Hall you see a stone statue of Rapunzel's tower in the middle of Fantasy Faire.

Great detail was put into this statue as you can see Rapunzel looking out from her window with her hair wrapped around the tower. Its definitely a nice picture spot for the kids.

From the Royal Hall I made my way to the second attraction inside Fantasy Faire, the Royal Theatre. Home of two new unique live shows.

I caught the 11:05 Tangled show. It filled up quickly. Children are allowed to sit on the circular carpets in front of the stage while everyone else gets to sit on benches.

Madrigals interact with the audience before the show to see which side of the audience is the loudest by saying Hazaa. A live pianist that plays during the show is introduced then the show gets underway.

Here are a few clips of the show.

This was my definite highlight for the day. A great show for the whole family. Unfortunately I did not catch the Beauty and the Beast live show but hopefully next visit Ill be able to.

As you walk around Fantasy Faire, you will notice two unique elements.
With Clopin's Music Box from Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, guests can witness a real Fantasy Faire party when you turn the crank in front of the music box.

As you look inside you will notice a couple more characters from other Disney movies that have joined in.

The second addition is Figaro the cat from Pinocchio. Perch on a second story window, Figaro sleeps through the day as a blue bird in a cage sings on, startling and waking the cat up every now and then.

Last but not least, THE FOOD!

Maurice's Treats offers 3 new twist and a beverage fit for a Prince or Princess.

You can go on the sweet side and choose from a Chocolate or a Strawberry twist pastry topped with powdered sugar. I had the strawberry twist and can definitely taste the jam used in the dough. Perfectly crisp yet soft on the inside.

What I was really looking forward to was the Cheddar Garlic Begal Twist. It was very tasty and not to over powering with the garlic but about 5 minutes later I could have used to hammer a nail. They should offer a marinara sauce with this if any Disney food executive happens to be reading this. And if you love the Apple Freeze at the Cozy Cone Motel at Carsland, you will love the Boysen-Apple Freeze. A couple of squirts of boysenberry at the bottom and frozen apple juice poured in after, then topped with passion fruit foam. I could of had ten of these. OMG! I have a new favorite drink (non-alcoholic). Sweet on one tasted bud, and sour on another. DELISH! For $5 more you can get a souvenir goblet fit for a princess or a stein with Beast on one side, and Gaston on the other.
But since this is an outdoor vendor booth, Annual Passholder discounts are not available here.

While taking in the sights and sounds of Fantasy Faire I noticed a Disney celebrity walking around.

Tony Baxter, who recently stepped down as Senior Vice President of Creative Development in Walt Disney Imagineering, was also inside Fantasy Faire. Luckily I had a chance to ask him what he thinks about Fantasy Faire. "Well in looks amazing. I'm glad Disney took a dying area and turned it around and make it look like this." Before he left I asked him if he would be coming back to D23 this year and continue his Vintage Disneyland presentation. "Well we have some great old videos from both Disneyland and Disney World and I hope to be there to share it with you guys again."
So you heard it hear first. Tony Baxter MAY be at  D23 this year.
What a great way to end the day.
From Fantasy Faire inside the Disneyland, this is Big Bubba saying HAZAA, HAZAA, HAZZA

Disneyland Trip Report 2/22/13

Me and Tay worked in the morning then headed to Disneyland to meet our great friends, Karla and Fernando, who we love to hang out with. Once again, BRRRRRR, another cold night. We met them in the Esplanade around 7 pm then decided which park to go to. We headed north........DISNEYLAND.
Got into the park and noticed it was busy. We headed to New Orleans Square and hopped on Pirates Of The Caribbean. Always a great attraction to start off with.

From there me and Tay had dinner at The French Market and basically had the same exact thing we had on Mardi Gras. She had the Red Beans and Rice with Andouille Sausage and I had the French Quarter Chicken. While we ate, Fernando sat with us while Karla waited in line for beingnets. and being the awesome people they are, they bought us a bag of 6 mickey shaped beignets. So nice of them.
We relax for a while and watched Fantasmic from a distance while chatting the night away.
When the show ended, we walked through Adventure Land and got on The Jungle Cruise. While in line we met a family who noticed my pins and got to talking about Sorcerer Radio. I got to talk to them about the station and took a picture of my SRSOUNDS.com landyard and button so they could download the app.

We had a great Captain on our cruise with a couple new lines we haven't heard. Our favorite one, "Look at those lions protecting that sleeping zebra, they cant decided what to eat.....white meat, dark meat, white meat, dark meat."
After the ride we walked to Sleeping Beauty's Castle and waited for the rope to drop for the re-opening of Fantasy Land since its closed during the fireworks show. Got a chance to post this pic on Instagram.

And got a reply back from @DisneylandToday on twitter.

  1. Another beautiful night at @disneylandtoday.

    1. It's always a magical night at the Happiest Place on Earth!

When the rope dropped we ran straight to Peter Pan and there was already a long line but we still waited since its always worth it. They ladies said it would be cute if me and Fernando rode it together. So we did.
"Second bar, I mean star to the right, and straight on till morning"
Then we went to Casey Jr. Circus Train and rode the caboose. BAD IDEA. I'm to tall and big for that small train. Rode the ride with my head hitting the roof. But they all got a big kick out of it.
That was the end of our night. Said goodbye to our friends and headed to World of Disney real quick to buy my wife her favorite make at home Mickey Mac and Cheese.

DCA Trip Report 2/18/2013

All we kept hearing about is rain, rain rain for today, and it wouldn't come till later in the day. So we decided to go later in the day to DCA. But today was also special not just for me, but my wife also. She recently found out that she got a job so it turned into a celebration in a way.
We got into DCA at around 4pm and food was on our mind. But it was soooooooo cold, so we decided on bread bowls from Pacific Wharf Cafe, and I was going to get my Corn Chowder. But as I looked at the menu, it wasn't on there. NOOOOOOO! So I got the Clam Chowder instead. I asked a cast member why they didn't serve the Corn Chowder anymore? She said it wasn't a favorite so they took it off the menu.
Clam Chowder Bread Bowl from Pacific Wharf Cafe

Clam Chowder bread bowl from Pacific Wharf Cafe in will warm me up on a cold day @ Pacific…

What a perfect meal for a chilly day! Yum!

The soup was very warm and bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. But my wife was disappointed with the quality of the Broccoli Cheese . It did taste different to me too. But still satisfying none the less
After we ate, I thought I'd have fun by feeding the ducks.

We were still waiting for the rain. It was so cloudy and windy, we were sure it was going to come soon.
We walk through Cars Land and noticed there was no wait for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Hopped on that really quick. Fan as always.
Then walked over to Hollywood Land. While we walked there we watched the Pixar Play Parade.

Finally we made it through the heavy crowd to Hollywood Land (I hate the new name) and watched Aladdin at Hyperion Theater. My wife hasnt see it since they stopped doing the Magic Carpet fly over.

Great Genie once again. Favorite line. " Your like Russel Crow from Les Mis. Except you can sing."
To conclude the night we watched "Oz The Great and Powerful" special 8 minute preview that has taken over Muppet Vision for the the time being.

Awesome preview. You could fell the wind and water droplets from the tornado. The 3D was amazing too.
Then headed home for the night.

DCA Trip Report 2/15/2013

Another early start at DCA. I met up with more family and friends that came down. I could only spend a few hours with them because I had to work at 2pm. Got in around after 8am and Hollywood Land was a ghost town

I met up with them at Tower Of Terror. I looked at the FastPass distibution and notice this sign.

They were suppose to start on Feb. 18th but looks like the started early.

After I met up with them I found out that they had a special assistance pass. I haven't used a disable pass since my Disney College Program days. With the pass we were able to use either the FastPass line or the wheelchair line.
We walked over to Cars Land. and checked for Radiator Springs Racers at a special booth for the SA pass and got a time to enter through the FP line which was 30 min later. While we waited we went on Mater which was only a 5min wait with the SA pass. Then we got on RSR which was another 5 min wait.

Then we walked through Pacific Wharf to Paradise Pier. Went to Toy Story Mania. What would have been an hour wait was only another 5 min wait with the SA pass.

Almost had the high score of the hour. Not as good as last time.
After that we headed to California Screamin. Me and my nephew decided to ride front row which I took video of.

Then we walked to Mickeys fun wheel but did not ride because I took my nephew to Goofy's Sky School. He rode Single rider and was on and off it in 5 min.
We shopped around for a bit then walked to Soarin Over California. But I had to leave sadly so I couldn't get on. I said goodbye to the fam and walked over real quick to Muppet Vision. I got a text about a special preview for Oz the Great and Powerful starting today. So I went to check it out real quick but....

I wouldn't be able to make it. BUMMER. I heard they gave out buttons and a bottle of bubbles. There was also a nice picture booth for the movie next to the entrance.

That concluded my day at the park.

Disneyland Trip Report 2/12/2013

Hit up Disneyland today to celebrate Mardi Gras and Lunar New Year. Got to the park really late to since I spent all day and DCA yesterday.
Got to the park around 4:30pm. Went straight to the Opera House to check in for the AP movie night of Mulan for Lunar New Year. Ive never watched it before so I was kind of excited.
After we checked in and got our bracelets we head to New Orleans Square for dinner and debated with my wife on what to eat. Cafe Orleans or The French Market? We met a very nice cast member in front of The French Market and said we were debating. I said I want to eat here but they don't have free refills like Cafe Orleans. She then said "Ill get you a refill on your drinks." SOLD! So my wife had the Red Beans and Rice with Andouille Sausage (blend of Red Bean Stew topped with Andouille Sausage over a bed of Rice Pilaf) and Iced Tea. I had the French Quarter Chicken (Southern style Oven Roasted Citrus Half Chicken, Smashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Citrus Au Jus)
Mardi Gras tunes being played by the Disneyland house band.
During the day I had been watching my phone like a hawk about any updates about Richard Dorner, an ex-LAPD officer who killed 4 people, 2 who were cops, and seriously injured 3 other. Even the cast member who offered us drinks came by and started talking to us about it. Very crazy. But anyway, after we ate we took the train to Tomorrowland since the Main Street station was under refurb. Bad idea not to bring my jacket. I was freezing the whole train ride, Brrrrr.
Walked to the Opera House to enter the theater for the movie. Inside while we waited, I took this pic of Lincoln on his birthday and posted it on my Instagram.

We were one of the first people in the theater and got great seats right in the middle. I also met Jeff  Reitz who spent every single day inside Disneyland during 2012 and still going strong. Today was day 409 for him.
 Via Twitter:

Nice getting to meet you at the #APMovieNight of #Mulan.

Reply to
  1. great to meet you to at the #apmovienight of #Mulan We will definitely meet up next time I'm in the park.

Finally the movie got under way. I laughed my ass off. I couldn't believe I never watched this movie after it was over. Its was excellent. And that concluded the day. Didn't really get a chance to see any of the True Love Week decorations. Hoping to before it ends this weekend.

DCA Trip Report 2/11/2013

My brother and his family came down from Bakersfield. They went to DCA and got into Cars Land at rope drop. I came late due to a crash on the fwy. But I met up with them at the exit of Radiator Springs Racers, which they loved. My brother now knows why the Fast Passes are gone in 45 minutes and there's always more then a 2 hour wait. Once we met up I led them to Luigi's Flying Tires, then Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Cars Land knock out. Then walked to Condor Flats and watched Minnie's Fly Girls and rode Soarnin Over California.
Via Twitter

Soarin Over California gets me every time. I love the smell of oranges
Aw! Thanks for soaring with us!

Next was Hollywood Land. Went to the Animation building and watched Turtle Talk with Crush. Then walked over to Hyperion Theater to watch Aladdin. Best line from Genie "Your famous for no reason, you have a reality show, and your having Kanye's baby. Your wishes are up girl." Even bashed Beyonce, Justin Beiber, and Manti Te'o.
From there went to Bugs Land and rode in order, Flik's Flyers, Francis' Ladybug Boogie, Heimlich's Chew Chew Train then watched It's Tough To Be A Bug.

Went over to Paradise Pier and saw some Lunar New Year decorations and rode Little Mermaid.

Time for lunch. My only meal that day was from Corndog Castle. Corndog, kettle chips and a Coke.
Went across the way the Jumpin Jelly Fish, then Micky's Fun Wheel, Non-Swinging Gondola. My 5y/o niece was the only one who wanted the swinging gondola. Gotta love her.
Then we all battled it out on Midway Mania. Crappy score but still beat everyone. Longest wait of the day 45min

Time for my favorite ride, California Screamin and it was only a 15 min wait.
Final ride of the night went to another round at Mater's Jamboree. My brother couldnt stop talking about the music being sung by Mater during the ride. Walked around Buena Vista street then said goodbye to the family. Havent spent that long in the park since One More Disney Day.

Intro to my mind 101

So just a small to medium size introduction. My name is Bubba. Disney is my pleasure. So I have decided that I need to keep track of my trips to the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland, and its neighbor, Disney California Adventure since I'm an Annual Pass-holder and a Disneyland Resort correspondent for Sorcerer Radio, a fan-run, award-winning internet radio station that has been entertaining Disney fans for over a decades. Basically Ill write about everything I did like attractions, foods, shows, etc. But I'll also keep it basic unless I feel the need to talk about something, especially if its new.
